About The Mumbai Diocese

Welcome to the Mumbai Diocese of the Mar Thoma Syrian Church Of Malabar.

The Mumbai Diocese encompasses the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa in the western region of India and the Kuwait region comprising of Salmiya and Safat regions.


Presently the various centres in this Diocese account for 60 Parishes and 9 congregations.

The Rt. Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Theethos is the Diocesan Bishop. There are 51 clergy serving in this Diocese.

The Mumbai Diocese comprises of seven Centres –

• Goa Centre
• Gujarat Centre
• Kalyan Centre
• Kuwait Centre
• Mumbai Centre
• Navi Mumbai Centre
• Pune Centre 

The Church in this western region of the country spreads over an increasingly multilingual, multicultural and the pluralistic context. It serves as an example of Christ taught love for all humanity.

Mission :
This Diocese is known as the “Missionary Diocese”. The mission work is given utmost importance and various mission projects are taken up by the Diocese.
